Creating a website has been a priority of mine for the last four years; however, I have been intimidated by the process. My primary reason for wanting to create a website is to do my part to practice open access. What is open access? It is the practice of making research freely available and not hiding behind a paywall. Nothing is more frustrating than finding an article that would be perfect for your client, paper, or project and getting blocked by a publishers paywall.
My favorite resource for getting around paywalls (freely and legally) is Unpaywall. This is a browser extension you can download, and it will scourer the internet for a freely available copy of the article. The best part is that Unpaywall is free! Give it a try and let me know what you think.
P.S., did you know that all the money that paywalls generate go to the publishers and not the authors? It's a total bummer that companies are profiting from the work of scientists.
